# Spalt

> A native macOS git client whose whole surface is the diff: precise line staging checked by git itself, local review notes that survive rebases, history rewriting with undo, GitHub pull requests, checks and Actions, Jira issues bound to branches, a built-in terminal for shells and coding agents, and AI assistance that is off by default and enabled per repository. Free while in beta. Not affiliated with The Pierre Computer Company, whose open-source diff and tree libraries render its review surface.

There is no public build yet.

- **Platform:** macOS 14.5 Sonoma or later, Apple silicon only. A notarized direct download, not the Mac App Store; updates arrive in the app and are verified against a key baked into the build before installing, and only with a click.
- **Price:** free while in beta. No account, no sign-up, no licence key.
- **Privacy:** no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting service. Requests leave the Mac only to your git remotes (through your own git), to GitHub and Atlassian after you sign in, to the AI account you configure (per repository, off by default, with secrets stripped first), and once a day to spalt.dev to check for a newer version.
